Monster Energy Andrews Yamaha rider Jason Thomas made
his 8th trip up onto the GNCC XC2 PRO-LITES Podium box at round 5 of the
series this weekend. Aboard Fred Andrew`s YZ250, Jason claimed a
cracking 2nd place in Class & 6th place Overall at the Acerbis
sponsored event in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee. Since his return to GNCC
racing last Summer, Jason has scored 1 First, 3 Second & 4 Third
place XC2 PRO-LITES finishes from the 11 races he has entered. He has
also finished in the GNCC top 10 overall 9 times during the same period.
Things are really hotting up in the chase for the Overall GNCC XC2 PRO-LITES Championship, as both of the leading KTM riders, Kailub Russell & Cory Buttrick were beaten at this round by Jason & Kawasaki mounted rider Scotty Watkins, who won the class. Kailub Russell claimed 3rd on the day,& maintains a healthy lead in the class, but the points are close for 2nd & 3rd overall between Cory, Jason & Scotty. With 9 rounds of the series still to go,& all rounds to count, its shaping up for a great Championship! Also in action at Loretta Lynn`s this weekend was Team Off-Camber`s YZ250F rider, Rudy Austin, who kept his VET B 30 Championship hopes alive with a well earned 2nd place in his class.
The GNCC action remains in Tennessee in two weeks time, with the Weekend Warrior Titan round, held for the first time ever at Lafayette, which is located just to the South of the Tennessee/Kentucky State Line.
