THOMAS FIGHTS BACK IN YADKINVILLE.
Monster Energy Andrews Yamaha`s Jason Thomas Fought his
way back to a solid 5th place finish in this Sunday`s XC2 PRO-LITES GNCC
race after another big 1st lap crash. The Moose Racing Yadkin Valley
Stomp proved to be one of the toughest races of this year`s GNCC
programme. During the 1st lap of the three hour event, a group of XC2
PRO-LITES riders including Jason on the Fred Andrews Yamaha WR250F,
became involved in a desperate battle for the class lead which actually
put them all ahead of XC1 PRO class competitors overall for a while.
Jason takes up the story: `Things are so close between Cory, Scotty
& myself that we were really giving it everything we had at the
beginning of this race. I managed to get the lead but we were all so
close together & going flat out. About half ways around the course I
hit a tree again & wrecked the front end of my bike. I got it back
to the pits & my mechanic, Joey, did an awesome job of changing all
the damaged bits. Joey got me going again in super quick time but I was 7
minutes down on Cory by the end of that 1st lap.I think I was down to
around 63rd overall at that point. I just rode my balls off for the next
two & a half hours & managed to work my way back up to 13th
overall & 5th in my class. I was pleased to get some points back
& I couldn`t have done it without Joey, he`s just awesome on the
spanners, the best guy you could wish to have in your pit at a time like
that. Thanks Joey!!!!` With two rounds of this year`s GNCC Championship
left,& all thirteen rounds to count, Jason is still in third place
overall in the XC2 PRO-LITES class, fourteen points ahead of Scotty
Watkins in fourth & fifteen points behind Cory Buttrick in second.
