GNCC XC2 CHAMPIONSHIP WILL GO TO THE WIRE FOR KR4'S JASON THOMAS.
22nd Oct 2012

Grand National Cross-Country Championship - Round 12 - Amsoil 'Ironman' - Crawfordsville,Indiana.
After one of the most memorable battles in recent GNCC history, KR4 Performance/Rockwell Time's Jason Thomas's hard-earned second place finish this weekend at the Amsoil 'Ironman' event means his 2012 campaign for victory in the XC2 PRO-LITES Class will go down to the wire in the last race of the season. Only one point now separates KTM 250XC-mounted Thomas from fellow KTM Racer & defending Champion Steward Baylor Jr. Always a difficult race to call, this year's Crawfordsville, Indiana 'Ironman' event maintained the traditional mix of steep hill climbs, multiple creek crossings & tricky mud holes. Thomas & Baylor both went into the race knowing what each had to do, & the pair went at it hammer & tongs from the get-go. Swapping the lead several times throughout the three-hour event, both Racer's encountered their fair share of difficulties with back-marker's, hill climbs & mud bogs. Climbing ever higher up the overall leaderboard, there was really nothing to separate them as the seconds ticked by, & they both dug ever deeper into their energy reserves. It was a fight to the flag which both Racer's should justifiably be proud of, & it's result really sets the scene for an epic finale to the Series. Round 13 of the 2012 GNCC Championship will be the Parts Unlimited-sponsored event, which is being held over the weekend of November 3rd-4th at Loretta Lynn's World-famous Motocross facility in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee.
